Wasting valuable study time...

BOO! ..haha, this is going to be good.
Last night Angie and I did a major clean of the dorm room in honor of her parents arriving later this afternoon.  We pushed our chairs and small furniture out into the hall and even  did a little rearranging, which made a HUGE difference! The room feels so much bigger! As we're finishing up, I had to sneak back behind my desk to plug in all our appliances and lamps that were unplugged during the renovation...that's when we got the genius idea to have a little fun before moving my desk back against the wall. So we set up the camera and this was the result:

We are so excited in fact, we have approximately four countdowns around the room, marking the days left until they arrive!! Lol

So sometimes Angie and I go back and forth laughing in our most ridiculous laughs...one night, Teresa joined in the fun. lol

GREEK life

This weekend is my second weekend as a Delta Gamma, and I am having a BLAST! Last weekend I went to two different frat parties, one Friday and one Saturday. Rest assure, they are NOTHING like the movies..I think this has to do a lot with the fact that we do not have greek housing on or off campus. It was quite organized actually, the fraternity rents out buses to take us to and from campus and the party venue (usually a bar or dance hall). I had such a blast friday night dancing for hours with my room mate and some of my DG sisters that I ran into throughout the night, and then with my floor neighbors Saturday night.  This week was so busy! I felt like I was scheduling my days to the minute! This weekend feels so good, I feel like I can take a deep breath knowing my school work is done...for now. Last night was  Delta Gamma's first semi-formal event called Presents, during which the old members "present" the new members.

Since another one of my "DG sisters" and I had training for our on campus jobs that ran till 9 PM! we had to take a cab to the venue, Thaxton Speakeasy.  Even though we both went stag, we had such a fun time dancing and getting to know the other girls. In fact, one of the senior DG's boyfriends proposed to her last night!!

Our night ended around 2AM with a trip to the City Diner for a half off SLU student meal. This morning I had to get up early to continue my job training and am currently waiting for my laundry to be done...oh and for my room mate to come home!! Angie is a member of The Adventure Club (haha) and went on a camping trip last night from which she won't be back from till later this evening. I miss her and hated having to sleep in an empty room last night! BUT we shall be reunited soon :)

so this gave me a good laugh #1

Last week Angie gets back to the dorm after an afternoon class and I am working at my desk (right next to the fridge).  As she is reaching in the fridge to get something for lunch I turn and see a massive pen scribble on the leg of her white jeans! She further explained that she was "itching herself with a pen in class and thought 'ooooh this feels good' then (she) realized the pen was clicked open!!" ahhh poor Angie!! LOL

I LOVE MAIL!

Hahahahaha...finally get to open them!!
Late last night as I was finishing my calculus homework I noticed 3 emails from the mail room informing me that I had 3 packages waiting for me. I couldn't wait to get them!! This afternoon right after my calculus class I got to pick them up and after carrying them all the way back to my dorm room, the wait was over, I got to open them!! :)  All three were from my mom, one box had makeup, good thing! because I am running low...I am definitely not used to wearing makeup everyday and didn't realize how quickly a girl can run out of it! She also sent Swiffer wet mop refills (which Angie will love!! ..I'm not the messy room mate, I promise! but she does randomly get in "cleaning moods" more often than I do.) and prints of four different pictures printed on cool adhesive material that I can stick right onto my wall! Mom, you did almost a perfect job of picking out the pictures! but only 3 of the 4 are going up in the dorm...
"Just cut and stick on the wall" photos!
Last week I got a card Grandma Ann with a nice note and suggestion for sweet ice cream spot in the city. I found time to write back right way! Hope you get the letter soon, grandma :)

Rush Rush Rush

My floor mates and me on the final day of Rush

So last Wednesday through this past Sunday, I participated in the Greek recruitment process called "Rush"...and what a rush it was! It was a series of "parties" (SIX the first night!! and then five, four, and three on the final night...) during which I was asked a billion times, what my name was, where I was living, where I was from, and what my major was. But as the nights went on I began making connections with some girls in my favorite sororities and learned about each chapter's philanthropy and social events. Saturday night was the last night of these speed dating-ish sessions and I had to rank my top three sororities from whom I would be willing to accept a bid (or invitation to join) from on Sunday morning. I never thought that I would go greek but the greek system here at SLU seems so much different, more intimate and better-rounded, than those at big state schools.  Sunday morning I was so nervous to open up my bid but when I did, I had been invited to join DELTA GAMMA! I was welcomed into the group so warmly and was loaded up with "DG" gear!! After a big cheer session with the rest of the sororities, we took pictures, and loaded up into cars and headed to a DG alumni's house to have lunch, play games, and get to know each other better.
From shamrocks to billikens to Delta Gam sisters :)

The only other girl that came to SLU with me from Incarnate Word also pledged DG! It was an exhausting 5 days of rush but I have been able to catch up with all my calculus homework, thank goodness for that Labor Day weekend! Tonight I am having dinner with my "anchor mate" (mentor) and then going to Chapter, which is a once a week meeting for all the girls in Delta Gamma. It feels so nice to be a part of a larger all girls community again. :)

Angie pledged Gamma Phi Beta
Just messin' around :)

roomies, gone greek.
