Oh my aching back!

Last weekend Hannah, Angie, and I were invited by some boys on our floor to go their frat's party.  Even though we are not quite fond of the members of the frat, their themes are always the best!! I mean come on, Old People Party?! who could resist?? (not us!)  We had so much fun getting ready, powdering our hair and piecing our costumes together...curiously all three of our costumes came from my closet...hmm...  however, when we arrived to the meeting spot to catch the bus to the party, we quickly realized that we were the only girls that dressed in theme. WHAT THE HECK!! After we got over our embarrassment, we went on to have a good night.  Dancing dancing dancing....

so classy
*whistle... look at those WHITE shoes!

..phew.

Fall Break

Two weeks ago we had our Fall Break (monday, tuesday no school) and while 99% of the campus takes this long weekend to go back home, Angie and I stayed.  Even though the campus was kind of eerie and dead, not to mention there was absolutely NO food service all weekend, we made the most of all the free time and soaked up St. Louis.  Friday as the rest of the students were fleeing campus, we took the metro down to the arch.  It was such a beautiful day...what was not so pretty was the line to go up in the arch that stretched all the way to Illinois.  Ok, so maybe that is an exaggeration, but there was a good 3 hour wait to catch a tram to the top of the arch.  So instead we took a nap on the grassy hill right under the arch, then headed back to campus.

my favorite picture of us so far :)!

That night we hung out with our neighbors before they departed for home early saturday morning.  Saturday was a 'blah' day, spent mostly on catching up on sleep, but sunday was my first trip to the St. Louis Zoo!!!  Again, we took the metro down to Forest Park and hiked all the way across it to the zoo.  It was so cool! ALL the animals were so active and playful.  I got this awesome video of orangatangs messing around.

But my favorite part was the gorillas.  The eldest one came up the the viewing glass and banged on it two different times! It made me jump both times, but the zoologist was telling us how he does it to get a reaction out of the audience.  She was very knowledgable about all the animals.

Giraffe!

Needless to say, we were exhausted after our zoo trip and slept well that night! Monday afternoon we had a delicious lunch at Pappy's (as seen in the food network's Man vs. Food) and caught up on homework.  Tuesday people finally started slowly returning back to school and we shared a joyful reunion with our neighbors, Hannah and Alex.  We had been so lonely without them!!

mmm, pulled pork sandwich with potato salad and apple sauce!
Later that week we returned to Forest Park for a study session...that ended up being one big relaxing nap on Art Hill.  The trees looked so pretty, some of the leaves are starting to change colors and we had fun stepping on all the fallen leaves and hearing them crunch.
workin' hard...or hardly workin'?
The warmer weather is now gone, replaced with temperatures in the 30's and 40's but boy, when the weather is good here, it's beautiful!

so this gave me a good laugh #4

Of course I love getting mail, so when I picked up a big Urban Outfitters box from the mail room I thought, "Wow! Mom really over did herself this time!!" ...and that she did. Inside was a cute "potted plant" jewelry stand, coffee table book titled "The Naked Roommate: And 107 Other Issues You Might Run Into in College" and...CAT WALL STICKERS!!! hahaha I couldn't wait to show my roommate, considering I had just been YouTubing "funny cat videos" and laughing hysterically the night before (while she looked on, less than impressed, lol).  That evening I whipped out the sheet of cat stickers, which she was definitely not prepared for, and watched her recoil in disgust/fear. The three big stickers are now strategically stuck throughout the room but have not been named.  I do not want to get attached to them because they will be returning to San Antonio with me over thanksgiving break.  Apparently they're too "freaky". Lol

Drake: A Long Way From Home

Tuesday October 12, Angie and I got to see Drake at the Fox theater, only a block from campus!!  We had been looking forward to this show since we bought the tickets in August.  So after we wrapped up our studying for the night, we got fancy and hiked over to the Fox.  We were laughing so hard as we imagined what other students must've been thinking about us as we walked past the library in heels and cute outfits while they were busy studying for midterms.

The concert was a blast! Even though we had upper level tickets, our seats were in the perfect spot.  He sang for about 2 hours and skipped a lot of the talking artists usually do in between songs.  I took a few videos for my brother, Jordan, because I know he would've loved to have been there! Jordan, sorry the footage is a bit shaky...we weren't supposed to have cameras in the theater to begin with, but I hope you enjoy these clips!

Big Little reveal and other festivities...

Two weeks ago I successfully made it through the first round of exams!! This past Wednesday I found out my "big sister" in my sorority.  We have a big sister, little sister system in Delta Gamma, similar to the system we had at Incarnate Word.  Each new pledge is paired with a sophomore as a mentor/best friend for their time in DG. Mine was the hilarious, classy (I'm talkin' lipstick everyday!), lovable Allison Michels!  The night of the Big Little reveal, we were held in a small room where we were given our sailor hats that had been collected for our bigs to decorate.  There were some pretty outrageous hats!

Once everyone got their hats back, we were led into an auditorium where we were then lined up four at a time at the front with our backs to the everyone and eyes closed.  Then on the count of three, we were told to turn around and there our big would be!!! It was so much fun to see everyone's reaction, and even though I was really excited, I was super nervous standing up there at the front, waiting to find out who my big was.  After all the revealing was over and everyone had their bigs, I was warmly welcomed to the family, met my grandbig (Allison's big), the other members of our "family", and enjoyed a concrete at the original Ted Drews :)

I'm second from the left, clenched fists, looking quite nervous!

The rest of the week went very smoothly..Delta Gamma had our first Date Dash on Thursday.  A Date Dash is a casual party, that usually has a theme, and to which we can bring up the three dates!  Our first date dash was themed "country clubs and gangsta thugs", I went as country club.  Before the dance, I met up with my big, Allison, at my grandbig's apartment where she made us dinner: orange chicken, pot stickers, and fried rice, mmmm!

Grand big, big, me

From there we caught the bus over to Missouri Bar and Grille, the venue for the date dash, and danced the night away!

This weekend will be full of studying for my theology midterm and laundry (which is what I'm currently doing)...but not before I had had a little bit of fun..last night my neighbor, Hannah and I went to a frat "date dash" themed christmas in october.  Luckily we had had time to squeeze in a run to Goodwill on thursday and were ready to dance in our ugly christmas sweaters.  It was really fun to see all the ridiculous outfits the guys came up with.

Well wish me luck on my first (and only) midterm on Monday!!
