Birthday/Christmas Wishes

So I've been meaning to post this for a while, the week of my birthday isn't exactly the most opportune time to do this BUT...I was hoping gifts could be left for Thanksgiving, perhaps? I don't have a whole lot more room up here in this closet-of-a-dorm room for much more..just a thought. Here goes the list  :)

$$ towards Sorel and/pr LL Bean and/or any other Snow boots of this style.  Mom, I could use help shoppin' for some :)

Canvas for christmas projects

Sue me, I'm still a fan.

Lipstick in nude or peach

Leather envelope clutch

NAIL POLISH :) pastels, nudes, deep purples

Fancy coffee
oh or this one!

Cute umbrella
Small
Pink by Victoria Secret Cards Gear...who knows, if they lose tomorrow, maybe everything will go on sale! (not)

Not Pictured: ZipFizz, coloring books (I've found coloring is a nice destresser between classes/exams)

Also, what I could really use is a bit of spending cash (classic college student) specifically for some special expenses:

  • My Delta Gamma Badge, unfortunately not covered in my dues, also unfortunately not made in silver, tin, aluminum, or any other metal less than gold.
  • Amazon Gift card-never too early to prep for text book shopping
  • Target Gift card
  • Forever 21 gift card, ok not a necessity....

Again, I know this is veryyyy tardy, but good ideas for Christmas, eh?? :)

The Fabulous Fox

This semester I am co-teaching a University 101 class that is a short, one credit hour class that meets once a week to discuss different issues that may arise during the transition into college such as time management, multiculturalism, peer pressure, stress management, the Jesuit mission, health and wellness, etc.  My most favorite part so far has been our class outing.  My advisor and I decided to take the class to the Fox theater, just a block off campus, to take a tour of it!  The tour was SO COOL! We learned about it's history and architecture and all the shows that had come through over the years.  One of the first thing's the tour guide mentioned was the use of "ghost lamps".  Since theater in general is full of superstitions, they always keep on these "ghost lamps" so that the spirits think they are never alone.  If they were to be left alone and neglected, who knows what they would do to the performances!

Also, another interesting superstition was the elephants on the carpet.  Through out the whole theater, there are elephants with their trunks pointing up, a symbol for good luck, and every single one has their trunk raised toward the stage.  No matter where you are, even in the bathroom, the elephants will point you back to the stage!

Backstage was quite a sight to see! Every wall is covered with graffiti, signatures, and murals of the past performers and plays that have come through the Fox.  I could have stayed in there for hours reading all the writing and trying to find performers I know.

JONAS BROTHERS!

We ended the day with a nice dinner at the italian restaurant right by campus, Vitos.  I had so much fun in fact, I brought my dad back for a tour the next weekend while he was visiting for parent's weekend.

It's A Girl!

BID DAY 2011 welcomed 60 brand new babies into Delta Gamma.  After "greeting" them by cheering and jumping up and down and hugging and smiling and screaming, we took our annual picture in front of the John Cook school of business.  It was so exciting, and surreal, to see all their smiling faces and reminiscing on my Bid Day a year ago.  I had absolutely no idea what I was getting myself into, or how rewarding it would be (even after only 12 months!) After the "photoshoot"we headed out to the bowling alley and had pizza, mingled, and cosmic bowled all afternoon.  Here are some pictures from the festivities that day:
