| My floor mates and me on the final day of Rush |
So last Wednesday through this past Sunday, I participated in the Greek recruitment process called "Rush"...and what a rush it was! It was a series of "parties" (SIX the first night!! and then five, four, and three on the final night...) during which I was asked a billion times, what my name was, where I was living, where I was from, and what my major was. But as the nights went on I began making connections with some girls in my favorite sororities and learned about each chapter's philanthropy and social events. Saturday night was the last night of these speed dating-ish sessions and I had to rank my top three sororities from whom I would be willing to accept a bid (or invitation to join) from on Sunday morning. I never thought that I would go greek but the greek system here at SLU seems so much different, more intimate and better-rounded, than those at big state schools. Sunday morning I was so nervous to open up my bid but when I did, I had been invited to join DELTA GAMMA! I was welcomed into the group so warmly and was loaded up with "DG" gear!! After a big cheer session with the rest of the sororities, we took pictures, and loaded up into cars and headed to a DG alumni's house to have lunch, play games, and get to know each other better.

The only other girl that came to SLU with me from Incarnate Word also pledged DG! It was an exhausting 5 days of rush but I have been able to catch up with all my calculus homework, thank goodness for that Labor Day weekend! Tonight I am having dinner with my "anchor mate" (mentor) and then going to Chapter, which is a once a week meeting for all the girls in Delta Gamma. It feels so nice to be a part of a larger all girls community again. :)
