"Party" Gras Weekend!

Other than being the city with the highest crime rate in the nation, St. Louis's Other claim to fame is having the second biggest Mardi Gras celebration in the U.S. (next to New Orleans, of course).  And what better way to celebrate my first Mardi Gras than sitting in a Delta Gamma luncheon from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm.  Yes, as fate would have it our Founders Day landed right on the biggest part of the year.  After we grumbled about it a bit (ok, perhaps a lot) we got all dressed up and headed to the event.  The Delta Gamma alumni chapter of St. Louis planned and delivered quite a beautiful auction, lunch, and program at a hotel a little bit outside the city.

The guests at the event included our Saint Louis University, Eta Theta chapter as well as Washington University's, Alpha Epsilon chapter along with alumni young and old..some very very old (50+ years of being a Delta Gamma) from Missouri, Illinois, Colorado, and TEXAS.  It was quite wonderful hearing the "Gold Members" talk about their memories from Delta Gamma (and several frat parties back in the day, haha!) I was amazed at the amount of time and dedication some of these women had devoted to the organization over the years.

Later that evening a groups of my friends and I got dressed up and drove downtown to see if there were any events for 18+ in Soulard, the part of town that most of the festivities however, we had no luck.  But we did get to see the after math of the parade from that morning and man, it was a mess!  I can't wait to experience the party next year...or better yet, when I turn 21.
